Abstract

In a news agenda dominated by Covid-19 it’s almost refreshing to report on a crisis that’staken place in one of the world’s major shipping lanes, the blockage of the Suez Canal by Ever Given, a Japanese-owned container ship. At 1,300 feet long and capable of carrying 20,000 containers, usually 40 foot long, it’s a huge vessel.
