Abstract

The aim of this study is to conduct a comprehensive literature review on the construct of achieved eminence in a business context. The rationale is not only to identify the construct within the spectrum of business leadership but also to adopt a critical perspective that will help HR practitioners and organisations in general to focus
their efforts and resources on developing individuals who sustainably and meaningfully add value to the organization. In this respect, we first define eminence and thereupon, we examine a number of related constructs including age, influence, power, thought leadership and individual’s temperament.
