Abstract
Frodo: “I wish none of this had happened.”
Gandalf: “So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings
In the current crisis it’s good to engage in a bit of escapism. As in theLord of the Ringstrilogy, we know that good will, despite the many setbacks that are suffered by the fellowship in their quest to destroy the ring of evil, good will eventually triumph. Tolkien, like all great storytellers, recognised the power of hope.
