Abstract

Classic architectural writings of senses and place, such as Gaston Bachelard’s The Poetics of Space, Yifu Tuan’s Experience and Appreciation, and Juhani Pallasmaa’s The Geometry of Feeling, stimulate the sensorial imaginations and memories through detailed descriptions of space and how the body reacts to space emotionally, physiologically and physically. Making memorable places is also creating memorable marks and atmospheres that are strongly connected to the senses.
