Abstract
This chapter discusses the methods used by historians in analysing, ordering, and interpreting printed ephemera from the nineteenth century. Several typographic historians, including Michael Twyman, Maurice Rickards and John Lewis, have focused their study on the use of printed ephemera and its historical value in material culture.
